G Ts Jukebox Jack Rocks To Track Record At Track On 2
G Ts Jukebox Jack got his groove on Sunday, Sept. 1 at The Track On 2, kicking off the eight-race card with a track record performance for two-year-old pacing geldings in his career debut.
Leaving from post two with driver Michael Hennessy aboard, G Ts Jukebox Jack quickly grabbed command of the field of eight, speeding to the first quarter in :27.3. Dont Shoot Luke (Scott Knight) was unable to find a seat on the first turn, pacing around G Ts Jukebox Jack just beyond the quarter before G Ts Jukebox Jack quickly retook before the half in :57. The 1-5 favourite had things his way on the far turn, reaching three-quarters alone on top in 1:27.1.
G Ts Jukebox Jack opened up turning for home, putting three lengths between himself and Dont Shoot Luke midway through the lane. Hands Off Harry (Nathan Sobey) found his best stride late, surging from third in deep stretch, but it would be too late as G Ts Jukebox Jack reached the wire a quarter length in front in 1:55.1. Hands Off Harry was second, Dont Shoot Luke held for third.
The homebred gelded son of Captain Deo-G Ts Jukebox Angel is trained by Scott McGinn who co-owns along with Gerald, Marjorie and Terry McGinn. Prior to Sunday's $4,400 two-year-old maiden event, G Ts Jukebox Jack was a winner in his lone qualifier despite broken equipment in 1:58.2.
The 1:55.1 clocking lowered the mark previously held by Come On Santanna of 1:55.4 established in August of 2023.
The win was one of two on the day for driver Michael Hennessy.
