Bond Sold, Retired

The ultra-talented trotting mare Bond has been sold and retired, and will head to harness racing's broodmare ranks for 2025.

A daughter of Southwind Frank - Boccone Dolce, Bond banked more than $1.48 million in her 22-race career. She posted a 7-2-0 summary from nine starts as a two-year-old, then sported a 8-2-1 summary from 13 sophomore starts en route to winning the Dan Patch Award as the Three-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year in the U.S.

As a two-year-old, Bond triumphed in the Goldsmith Maid and Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Final and her three-year-old wins include Delmonica Hanover, Elegantimage and Breeders Crown, where she set her lifetime mark of 1:51.2.

“As a three-year-old she was the best mare in her crop and I am convinced that she could have beaten the colts that year,” said Åke Svanstedt, who co-owned Bond together with Little E LLC and L Berg Inc. The four-year-old is being sold to Eric Good's Spring Station Farm in Kentucky where she will begin her new career as a broodmare.

”We are incredibly proud of what she has achieved on the racetracks and want to wish her a successful broodmare career in Kentucky," continued Svanstedt. "Her caretaker Stine Holm played a big part in Bond’s success, for which we are very grateful and we also want to thank Robert Lindström who managed to put this deal together.”
