McIntosh Remembered At Mohawk Tuesday
Friends and family of the late Bob McIntosh gathered at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday, Aug. 27 for a race named in his honour and a celebration of life remembering the Hall of Fame horseman.
The celebration of life took place at Mohawk prior to the card. The third race of the night, sponsored by Winbak Farms, was held in Bob's memory. Fittingly, a horse with ties to McIntosh's old stomping grounds — Essex County — found the winner's circle as Louie The Great came flying late in the stretch for driver Tyler Borth to pick off Cookie Air (James MacDonald) in a lifetime best 1:55.2 effort.

In the September issue of TROT Magazine, be sure to check out the feature article as a number of prominent industry participants close to Bob offered memories and stories about the life and times of one of Standardbred racing's all-time great horsemen.
There was a single-horse accident during the card of racing at Mohawk in the evening's eighth race. Beach Games made a break and fell for driver Bob McClure, who was able to remain in the racebike with the lines and avoid any of the other participants. According to AGCO judges, the horse was walked off the track, was examined by track vet Dr. Julie Ballinger and was reported to be fine. McClure didn't miss any of his scheduled drives as that was his final assignment of the evening.
