Ray Allen Passes

In loving memory of Ray Allen

Former trainer Ray Allen of Newcastle, Ont. passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at the age of 84.

Ray worked 30 years at Outboard Marine in Peterborough and Genoto shippers in Oshawa for 15 years. He loved old classic country and sitting with his family. He adored listening to his son John play his guitar and banjo and sing to him and his wife Barb.

His racehorses were his true passion for many years and he found such pleasure with that lifestyle and the people he met through racing. His first horse was Kawartha Bearcat that he trained and raced and got his first win at Morrow Park. Ray trained and raced many horses throughout the years, one of which was EL Roope, who was Kawartha Downs' Aged Trotter of the Year.

Ray was a simple man that called a spade a spade. He enjoyed his life to the fullest right up to the end.

He leaves behind his wife Barb, his daughters Kathy (Russ) Bradley and Donna (Glenn) Wagar. Predeceased by his son John.

A private family memorial will be held.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Ray Allen.
