Alittlesidehustl N Wins Back-To-Back Saratoga Opens
Alittlesidehustl N scored her second straight victory in the $20,547 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel, prevailing over the favourites in a three-way finish on Friday, Aug 23.
Alittlesidehustl N has been a regular participant in the Fillies and Mares Open this season both at Plainridge Park and her home track of Saratoga. The six-year-old Jackie Greene-trained mare had nine second-place finishes and a trio of thirds to her credit in her first 18 starts of 2024, but the New Zealand import was winless on the season heading into her try in the Saratoga Open on Aug. 16. In that start, Alittlesidehustl N flashed early speed and went coast-to-coast to prevail for the first time this year after four consecutive runner-up finishes.
This time out, Alittlesidehustl N was assigned post position six in the six-horse distaff feature at the Spa. Driver Billy Dobson was forced to take back. With first half fractions of :27.1 and :56.1 being set by the race’s favourite, Arizona (Brett Beckwith), Alittlesidehustl N sat back patiently before being unleashed around the final turn. The razor sharp mare charged hard around the turn before coming on to win by a neck to repeat in 1:53.2. Invader Milieu Hanover (Wally Hennessey) grinded out a first-over trip to finish second while Arizona had to settle for third. Alittlesidehustl N paid $13.40 in the mild upset.
The Hes Watching-Uandmebabe mare, who has won 21 races lifetime and more than $290,000 in purses, is owned by Kellogg Racing Stables LLC of Queensbury, New York.
Live harness racing continues on Saturday evening with post time set for 5 p.m.
