Sunshine Lou Swift At Inverness
Sunshine Lou left the gate swiftly and opened up, finding nothing but open racetrack ahead en route to victory in the featured Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Campbell MacIsaac was back in the bike for the second straight week, coming off a second-place finish. This week, MacIsaac and the Raymond MacKinnon student went to the gate on the rail in the field of seven featured pacers with 4-1 odds backing them as the second choice.
MacIsaac wasted little time and shot out of the gate, determined for the lead. Sunshine Lou advanced to open up by four lengths at the :29.1 opening quarter. The field closed in on him, but he still maintained 2-3/4 lengths at the :59.1 half and a three-length lead at the 1:28.3 three-quarters. Without facing an anxious moment, Sunshine Lou continued on to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:57.4. Yacht Seelster (Zachary Mullins) closed sharply and took second while Rotten Ronnie (Redmond Doucet) saved show.
Sunshine Lou is an eight-year-old Sunshine Beach-Carte De Mode gelding owned by Raymond and Leah MacKinnon. He notched his fourth win of the season from 14 starts and his 23rd career victory. He paid $8.90 to win.
