Unreasonable captured the sole $109,589 division of the third leg of the Kentucky Championship Series for two-year-old filly pacers on Monday, Aug. 19 at The Red Mile in a lifetime best 1:50.4.

Trainer Erv Miller was warranted in spotting the daughter of Huntsville-Roaring To Go in deeper waters after a third-place finish in a $41,096 second leg of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series on Aug. 11.

With Scott Zeron holding the lines, Unreasonable commenced her journey from post position eight in the field of eight and maintained that spot while Treacheryinthedark (Dexter Dunn) controlled the first split of :27. Sweet Ballad, however, had her mind set on how she was going to compete. As she and driver Yannick Gingras cut the half in :55 and three-quarters in 1:23.2. Unreasonable closed from seventh with a :25.4 final panel to best Sweet Ballad and favoured Duration (Todd McCarthy).

Owned by her conditioner and David J. Miller, Unreasonable was bred by Steve Stewart and Frank Chick. The filly’s dam collected $434,321 on the racetrack. Unreasonable is her third foal and most prolific. She sold for $55,000 at last year’s Standardbred Horse Sale. Roaring To Go is a half-sibling to Queen Of The Pride (sired by McArdle, $802,129 in career earnings).

Unreasonable paid $8.48 to win and improved her record to 2-0-1 in four starts with a bankroll now at $63,894.

Miki And Minnie (Peter Wrenn) broke her maiden in the $41,096 third leg of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for freshman filly pacers. Accede (Gingras) was second and favourite Three Times Bettor (Andrew McCarthy) was third.

Miki And Minnie’s final time was 1:50.4. The filly sat in the pocket after leaving post position five in the field of 10 as the public’s third selection. She paid $6.76 to win and her resume now stands at 2-0-1 in four starts with a bankroll of $46,600.

Chris Ryder conditions the daughter of Always B Miki-Thats The Ticket who competes as a homebred for Craig Henderson, Robert Mondillo and Lawrence Minowitz. The filly is the third foal out of the dam who earned $331,824 during her career and who is a half sister to Bigtown Hero (sired by American Ideal, $491,329 in career earnings). Miki And Minnie’s granddam, Art Account (sired by Artsplace), produced five winners of more than $100,000 from 14 foals.

Miki And Minnie paid $6.76 to her supporters.

Two $20,548 Kentucky Golden Rod Series divisions went postward with Faze (Tim Tetrick) winning in 1:52 and Odds On Collateral (Peter Wrenn) winning in 1:52.1.
