Racing Continues At Summerside Tuesday
Quick footed free-legged pacer Wind Blown takes on a hot Woodmere Denny in the Tuesday evening feature when racing resumes at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Prince County oval comes back to action with an 11-dash card at 6 p.m., after Old Home Week racing came to a close on Saturday at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Race 10 is the featured pace of the evening with a $3,200 purse and Wind Blown is the morning line favourite for owners Doug Polley Jr., Doug Polley Sr., Gordon McComb and Joanne McComb. The free-legged son of Mach Three is currently being trained by Phil Sizer, who has listed Paul Langille to drive the winner of 23 races who is fresh off a second-place finish in Charlottetown in 1:53.4. Wind Blown has drawn post three for Tuesday’s contest.
Woodmere Denny rides a two-race win streak into Tuesday’s card and will start from post four for the husband and wife team of driver Dale Spence and trainer MacKenzie Spence.
Also in the field are Hunger Pangs (Brady Sweet), Starshipzodiac (David Dowling) and Woodmere Ideal Art (Jason Hughes).
The Backstretch Beat goes with Woodmere Denny to extend his streak to three: “Woodmere Denny has been undefeated with Spence in the bike since the Ontario driver trekked home in early August for Old Home Week. This pacer looks to be feeling the rhythm with a pair of 1:54 victories in his last two and we say they score their third straight tonight.”
The program also features the P.E.I. qualifying leg of the Gamester-Pinkney Cup in races six and eight. The competition for drivers 30 years and younger with under 100 wins has drivers Jaycob Sweet, Zach Conway, Luke Armstrong, Kyle Desroche, Brady Sweet, Kyle Mason and Brett Clow vying for the top four spots to qualify for the Aug. 27 final set for Red Shores Summerside.
