The catalogue for the 2024 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale is now available online.

It may be viewed or downloaded at lexingtonselected.com and on the Equineline Sales Catalog app. The print catalogue will be mailed in late August.

The yearling auction — which produced the winners of the last five renewals of the $1 million Hambletonian and last two Hambletonian Oaks — gets underway on Monday, Sept. 30 with a 7 p.m. start time. The sale continues Tuesday through Thursday with afternoon sessions beginning at 1 p.m., then concludes Friday, Oct. 4, with that final session getting underway at 7 p.m.

The sale will be held as usual at the beautiful and spacious Fasig-Tipton Newtown Paddocks. For those unable to attend, the sale will be livestreamed with live bidding offered at proxibid.com.

Last year’s sale set a new industry record with gross receipts in excess of $67.9 million and number of horses exceeding the $100,000 barrier. According to sale co-managers David Reid and Bruce Brinkerhoff, this fall's renewal offers another power-packed catalogue from beginning to end that included yearlings eligible to all major jurisdictions.

“Year after year, it’s the overall depth of the catalogue that’s impressive,” said Reid. “Our consignors represent the best breeding operations in the sport and have once again supplied us with an outstanding group of yearlings with the most diverse pedigrees to be offered anywhere.

“There’s quality selling every session at every price point. Horses are eligible to a wide array of sire stakes programs, including 577 dual-eligible and additional 33 which are tri-eligible.”

In addition to all of harness racing’s leading sires, Reid noted that this year’s edition will offer yearlings from the first crops of Hambletonian winner Captain Corey, Dan Patch and multiple Breeders Crown Champion Perfect Sting, Horse of the Year Bulldog Hanover, In Range, Ready For Moni, and Summa Cum Laude, plus leading international stallions like Bold Eagle, Calgary Games and  Face Time Bourbon.

Brinkerhoff added, “Our sales graduates speak for themselves, including the last five Hambletonians, last two Hambletonian Oaks, Meadowlands Pace, multiple Breeders Crown champions and million-dollar winners year after year.  This year’s sale includes 387 yearlings which are the first or second foal from the mare, showing strength in young and vibrant families.  Breeders have re-invested, and it shows.”

As it has been for years, the yearling sale is bookended by two weekends of major stakes racing at the Red Mile, and that combination makes up what Reid calls “the Lexington experience.”

“There’s nothing like it in all of harness racing," he said. “Lexington is the sport’s number one destination, and for good reason.”
