Unbeaten Rookies To Meet In Saturday's Sire Stakes
Vernon Downs will host a $110,100 USD leg of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday, Aug. 17.
The main event will feature two undefeated pacers, as Thirsty Thursday (Matt Kakaley, Post 5) takes on Fast Choice (Doug McNair, Post 2) and seven others. Both freshman pacers are three-for-three in their young careers with NYSS wins at Yonkers Raceway, Saratoga Raceway and Batavia Downs. They both have banked $142,348 and both have a lifetime mark of 1:54.3.
Thirsty Thursday is a colt by Huntsville out of the millionaire NYSS champion mare Tequilla Monday and is trained by Travis Alexander for owners Flying A Racing Stable and Chuck Pompey.
Fast Choice is a gelding by Courtly Choice out of Fashion Guru and is trained by Jared Bako for owners Ashley Bako and Randy Zane.
Barring a dead heat at least one of them will not leave undefeated.
The 13-race card starts at 6:05 p.m., with the Sires Stakes showdown slated as Race 11.
