MacIntosh Reaches Career Milestone
With horses racing in Ontario and New York, trainer Blake MacIntosh marked a career milestone on Monday, Aug. 12 when Mamba won the evening's ninth race at Yonkers Raceway.
Mamba's 1:52.4 score in the $41,096 conditioned pace pushed MacIntosh's career earnings over the $20 million mark.
Driven by Jordan Stratton, Mamba ($12) gave MacIntosh the milestone moment when he wore down 4-5 favourite None Bettor A and George Brennan in deep stretch to pocket the lion's share of the purse. The four-year-old Sweet Lou gelding is owned by Tim Dickieson of Holland Centre, Ont.
MacIntosh launched his stable at the start of the millennium and has since won 1,238 races. He is currently in the midst of his eighth consecutive season with earnings of more than $1 million.
The resident of St. George, Ont. posted back-to-back $2 million seasons in 2018 and 2019 -- highlighted by the many rich Grand Circuit feats of Courtly Choice, including the Meadowlands Pace, Little Brown Jug and Canadian Pacing Derby. MacIntosh posted career-best numbers in 2019 when his stable won more than 100 races and earned more than $2.7 million in purses.
MacIntosh's milestone night was bookended with wins as he also took the opener at Woodbine Mohawk Park with Lindys Irishcream. Between wins, his other two starters each picked up cheques Grand River Raceway and Yonkers.
