Inverness Feature Taken By Rotten Ronnie
Rotten Ronnie was on his best behaviour on Wednesday (Aug. 7) at Inverness Raceway and returned as a winner in the featured Winners Over Pace.
Lennan MacIssac sent the horse to the gate in the rail spot with Redmond Doucet holding the lines. Doucet and Rotten Ronnie didn't hold back and protected their pylon position, yielding the early lead. The pair set fractions in :30.3, 1:01.3, and 1:31.2. Sunshine Lou (Donald Gillis) battled heavily from the outside through the third quarter pole, but Rotten Ronnie was relentless and went on to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 2:00.1. Shir Gain (Rodney Gillis) followed third over to take second and second-over Yacht Seelster (Zachary Mullins) bested Sunshine Lou at the wire to take third.
Owned by Redmond Doucet and Andy Stewart, Rotten Ronnie is a six-year-old son of Malicious and the Brandons Cowboy mare Victory Cry. He earned his first win of the year in three starts and his 23rd career victory from 61 starts. He has $96,075 in lifetime earnings. As the bettors' choice, Rotten Ronnie returned $3.00 to win.
