Trainer Darran Cassar reached 1,000 wins in his training career on Thursday, Aug. 1 at MGM Yonkers Raceway.

Cassar hit the landmark in race three when his Benhope Rulz N, a 10-year-old gelding by Courage Under Fire, dead-heated for a 1:53.2 victory with Saddle Up, who was piloted by trainer Joe Bongiorno. Benhope Rulz N was driven by Yannick Gingras.

The 46-year-old Cassar has sent out earners of more than $15 million to go with his 1,000 tallies. Cassar enjoyed his best campaign in 2014 when he had 84 winners from 526 starters and saw his horses bank $1.46 million.
