Svanstedt Freshmen Favoured In Sunday's NYSS
Ake Svanstedt stablemates Gangsta Talk and Happy Jack B lead a group of seven two-year-old trotting colts and geldings in search of victory in the $106,300 USD leg of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) on Sunday, Aug. 4 at Tioga Downs.
Gangsta Talk is the one to beat. The Chapter Seven-Gangsta Rat colt, who is the only winner in the field of freshmen, will be driven by Svanstedt from post seven. He has two wins and a second from three lifetime starts in the NYSS. Gangsta Talk, who won the Yonkers and Saratoga legs, was a $65,000 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale purchase and has already accumulated $122,294 in purses for Ake Svanstedt Inc., Stable Why Not, Little E Llc and Jorgen Sparredal Inc,.
Svanstedt also trains Happy Jack B, a colt by Chapter Seven out of Exotic Form. While still a maiden, Happy Jack B has finished second twice in three starts. He was runner-up in the most recent NYSS legs at Vernon and Yonkers. The $110,000 Lexington yearling buy is owned by B Nasstrom Holding Inc., Wolfgang A Stable Inc., and Joe Sbrocco And Jaf Racing. Happy Jack B will start from post four with Tyler Buter in the bike.
The other five competitors haven’t done better than third in their lifetime starts.
The 12-race-card also features two divisions of the New York Excelsior “A” Series. Post time is 1 p.m.
