Patton Wins With First Starter
Forget the old saying "the third time's a charm." Rhandy Patton only need one shot to earn his first career win as a trainer

The 51-year-old Collingwood, Ont. conditioner didn't have to wait long -- just until the final race of the evening -- for a win as his first starter P L Cammander ($10.50) rallied home off cover to defeat a field of $6,000 claiming pacers by two and three-quarter lengths in 1:55.3. Favourite Riverwalk was second and Armbro Brando was third.
Stephen Byron was in the bike for the last of six wins on the 12-race card for the Byron family. He drove four winners -- one for brother David -- and son Aaron steered two.
In the evening's featured $15,000 Preferred 2 Pace, Rock Me Amastreos ($9.10) went gate-to-wire in 1:52 for driver Kyle Balson and trainer Arthur Balson. Mcapulco followed for second and favourite Im Feeling Good came on for third. Owned and bred by David Snowden of Bowmanville, Ont., the five-year-old son of Astreos out of Queens Arms notched his 15th career win and lifted his earnings over the $200,000 mark.
