On Tuesday, July 30, The Red Mile conducted 18 races with 13 of those events being series divisions. Fannie Lipkowitz and Looksgoodinloulou entered the winner’s circle in their respective $111,111 first legs of the Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series (KYSSCS) for sophomore filly trotters and freshman filly pacers.

Fannie Lipkowitz (Tim Tetrick) continued the trend at the Lexington oval of rewarding her supporters with a healthy $31.26 payout as the three-year-old daughter of Greenshoe-Ma Was Right defeated favoured Woman Of Passion (Scott Zeron) by a neck in 1:53.4. Tove Palema (Andy Miller) was third.

Leaving from post position seven in the field of seven, Fannie Lipkowitz gradually trotted from last, to sixth, to fifth and then fourth at the top of the stretch. Woman Of Passion was content to show the way through fractions of :26.4, :55.4 and 1:25.4 with Tove Palema positioned in second.

Known for her closing kick, Fannie Lipkowitz did not disappoint as the Lucas Wallin trainee made the most of the long advance to the wire to best her rival with a :27.1 final quarter-mile.

Bred by Kentuckiana Farms and All Laid Out Stables, the filly is owned by Shermay Stables and Wallin Racing Stable Inc. Fannie Lipkowitz’s victory was her first in 2024 and improved her lifetime record to 16-3-4-2. She has earned $123,824 in purse money and her final time was a personal best.

Looksgoodinloulou (Yannick Gingras) demonstrated she takes after her world champion dam by pacing a :25.3 final panel to capture the second KYSSCS division for two-year-old pacing fillies in her first pari-mutuel engagement as the favourite. Sweet Ballad (David Miller) was second and Champagne Room was third.

Sweet Ballad went straight to the front with Looksgoodinloulou right behind her foe in second. Sweet Ballad led the field of eight through splits of :28.4, :58 and 1:26. As the fillies were set down for their drive to the wire, Looksgoodinloulou simply outfinished her stablemate to hit the finish line in 1:52.1.

Looksgoodinloulou is a daughter of Sweet Lou and is the first foal out of Looksgoodinaromper. She competes as a homebred for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi.

Trainer Ron Burke is responsible for this filly and Sweet Ballad.

This could be quite a group of talented young ladies as the third-place finisher, Champagne Room, is out of world champion and dual Dan Patch Award winner See You At Peelers. She is a half-sibling to Geometry (sired by Somebeachsomewhere), who foaled 2023 Dan Patch Award winner Geocentric (sired by Sweet Lou), a career winner of $635,901.

Looksgoodinloulou paid $4.62 for her first win.

Gingras and Burke Team for two Commonwealth Series Triumphs

Fresh off his 9,000th victory, Gingras held no prisoners in his return to action. He steered two winners of the two $41,667 Commonwealth Series divisions for two-year-old filly pacers in Accede (Tall Dark Stranger-Triple V Hanover) and Rose (Sweet Lou-Rosemary Rose) for North America’s leading trainer, Burke.

Accede paid $13.46 while Rose provided $3.06 at the windows.

Pisco Sour (Tetrick) and Drawing Rights (Dexter Dunn) took the two divisions for three-year-old filly trotters.

Pisco Sour is trained by Ake Svanstedt and paid $22.34 for the victory. Drawing Rights is managed by Chris Ryder and paid $29.22 for the victory.
