Ghostly Casper Posts Career Best At Mohawk
Ghostly Casper trotted to a new lifetime mark in the featured $28,000 conditioned trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday evening, July 29.
Benoit Baillargeon sent his student to the gate on the rail in the feature class with Tyler Borth in the seat. Borth sent Ghostly Casper out on a sprint to the top, setting the tempo with an opening quarter in :26.4. Brace For Landing (Chris Christoforou) and Handsome Sebastian (Trevor Henry) were parked out two and three-wide going to the first split with Handsome Sebastian taking command after the quarter pole and Brace For Landing receding to third behind Ghostly Casper.
Ghostly Casper kept on the heels of Handsome Sebastian through the :55.1 half and 1:23.2 three-quarters. He tipped out and breezed on by the favoured leader, brushing to a 4-1/2-length score in his new career-best mile time of 1:51.4. Special Mission (Tyler Jones) faced a mission of his own, moving from the back of the pack to a second-place finish and Distance Learning (Austin Sorrie) overcame never finding the pylons to nab third.
Baillargeon co-owns the Resolve-Cool Creek Breeze four-year-old with Teresa Davidson and Nunzio Vena. Ghostly Casper, who earned his fourth win in 12 races this year, has $715,337 banked from 41 starts lifetime with a record of 8-10-7. He paid $7.70 to win at 3-1 odds.
