Tioga Feature To P L Princess C; Byron Trainees Triple
Ontario-bred pacing mare P L Princess C was an easy winner in the featured $13,699 fillies & mares conditioned pace on Friday, July 26 at Tioga Downs.
Mary Kat (Marcus Miller) was first to the quarter :27.2 before April Ava (Braxten Boyd) took the top spot with a lap to go and led to the half in :56.4. Driver and co-owner Jeff Long made his move with P L Princess C going first-up from mid-field down the backstretch. They hustled by to take command to three-quarters in 1:24.3. As the field reached the stretch, P L Princess C found another gear and won easily in 1:52.4. April Ava held on to finish second, 2-1/2 lengths behind the winner, while So Diva (Jim Taggert Jr.) rallied for third.
Bred by Prince Lee Acres, P L Princess C is a five-year-old mare by Thinking Out Loud out of the Village Jiffy mare Taylorlane Action. Paul Long trains for owners Charlene and Jeff Long. P L Princess C earned her fifth win of the season from 15 starts and now has 15 career victories. She paid $5.20 to win as the odds-on favourite.
Driver Aaron Byron combined with trainer Jeff Byron for three winners on the 10-race card. They won with Lyons Night Hawk ($9.70), Spittin Chicklets ($7) and Pick Me Up Hanover ($3).
