If Only Id Known circled a compact field of Preferred distaffers and prevailed in a three-way photo finish for a 13-1 upset on Friday, July 26 at Century Downs.

Sent postward as the longest shot from the outside post in the field scratched down to five for this week's Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, If Only Id Known and driver Phil Giesbrecht followed from the back of the pack while the 1-2 favourite, Outlaw Sharktastic (Nathan Sobey), set first half fractions of :28 and :57.3 with Daisy Corvette (Dave Kelly), winner of the last two Preferreds, joining her on the front-end as they battled past three-quarters in 1:26.1. If Only Id Known followed the cover second-over down the backstretch and, despite being forced wide when Daisy Corvette broke stride on the final turn, she got up in the final strides to collar Outlaw Sharktastic in 1:56.2 with In High Cotton (Kelly Hoerdt) splitting rivals to make it into the win photo. Locked and loaded in the pocket late, Century Mach (Serge Masse) finished just behind the top three.

If Only Id Known earned her fourth victory of the season to go along with 11 other top three finishes from 19 starts competing almost exclusively in Alberta's Mares Preferred ranks. The lion's share of the month-end's bolstered purse of $25,000 lifted her seasonal earnings to $64,440 for trainer Chris Lancaster, who shares ownership of the six-year-old mare with Velda Olding. The daughter of Shadow Play out of Michelles Fury now boasts 20 career wins and just over $240,000 in earnings.

The payout for a $2 win wager on If Only Id Known was $29.20.
