The reigning Atlantic Breeders Crown champion and the region's fastest sophomore trotting filly of 2024 went toe-to-toe in P.E.I. Colt Stakes action on Monday, July 22 at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway with Oceanview Daisy landing on top.

The Monday evening card was rescheduled from last Tuesday, July 16 due to weather.

Fresh off a track record at Truro Raceway in her last start, Myles Heffernan Sr. sent the daughter of E L Rocket to the front in her $13,000 P.E.I. Colt Stakes three-year-old trot filly division and slammed out splits of :29.2, :59 and 1:28.4 with a pesky Dusty Lane Wee (Marc Campbell) on his back. The 2023 Atlantic Breeders Crown champion came out of the two-hole in the final quarter but could not loop the front-stepping Oceanview Daisy as they hit the wire in 2:00.

Colt Stakes two-year-old trot filly division in 2:02.3 over stablemate Supreme Rockette (MacPherson). The winning filly is owned by Blue Diamond Racing and Josh MacDonald.

The first $13,000 two-year-old trot colt division had Mile Hill Waylon (Gilles Barrieau) open up at the start and trot to an 18-length romp in 2:07.1 for trainer Paul Morrison and owners John and Barbara Breau.

The second $13,000 two-year-old trot colt P.E.I. Colt Stakes had a solid recovery from West River Jet (Ken MacDonald) as he came back from an early break to win in 2:05.3 over Fire The Rocket (Jason Hughes). Clare MacDonald trains West River Jet for owner Haley MacDonald.
