'Diamante,' 'King Tut' Winners At Pocono

Diamante Hanover

At Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania on Monday afternoon, July 15, Diamante Hanover and King Tut Hanover stayed lively to the wire to take their respective $20,548 featured trots.

Diamante Hanover, a daughter of Cantab Hall trained by Emily Bost for owner Bruce Potter, sat a two-hole trip most of the mile, then came outside headstretch and went on to a 1:54.2 victory. Diamante Hanover was driven by Anthony Napolitano. His brother George won the other trotting feature in 1:56, a new mark, with the Explosive Matter gelding King Tut Hanover, who made a second early move to the lead stand up to the finish, where he was a neck ahead of Mischievous G for trainer Louise Pepin, co-owner with Steven Bryden.

Matt Kakaley, George Napolitano Jr., and Ridge Warren each visited the Pocono winners circle three times during the afternoon.

The racing week concludes Tuesday, July 16 with a 1 p.m. card which will feature a $17,000 USD pace for up-and-coming horses; there will also be carryover into the last race’s High-5 wager.
