NY Freshman Filly Trotters Invade Tioga Sunday
Tioga Downs will play host to two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting fillies on Sunday, July 14.
Royal Mission (Matt Kakaley) is the 5-2 morning line favourite in the $54,500 USD first division from post eight. The filly by Chapter Seven out of Swinging Royalty is trained by Marcus Melander and owned by Jeffrey Snyder. She finished a close second in her only lifetime start in the June 25 leg of the NYSS at Yonkers Raceway.
Her toughest competition appears to be the Perry Simser-trained Calculus Risk (Jordan Stratton) from post three. Owned by Dennis Nye, Carl Leuchten and Jodi Leuchten, the filly by Devious Man out of K Squared Hanover won her career debut in the Yonkers leg.
The unbeaten Chapvious (Jason Bartlett) is the clear-cut favourite to win the $54,500 USD second division from post six. George Ducharme trains the filly by Devious Man out of Chaperess for breeder Purple Haze Stables. Chapvious is two-for-two after getting NYSS wins at Yonkers and in the July 3 leg at Buffalo Raceway.
The 14-race card starts at 1 p.m.
