The $41,096 final of the Jay Kaltenbach Series went to three-year-old trotting filly Champa Bay Hall on Wednesday, July 10 at Eldorado Scioto Downs.

Osaka Hall (Dan Noble) took the early lead from post four heading through the first turn. Lady Almas (Ryan Stahl) was parked around the first turn from post six and took over the lead as the field hit the :29 opening quarter. By the :58.2 half, Uncle Petes Dream (Chris Page) was flushed out first-over by Champa Bay Hall. Heading to the 1:27.1 third quarter, Uncle Petes Dream had gotten up to Lady Almas’ wheel. Champa Ball Hall went three-wide around the last turn, coming home in :28.3 to win by 2-1/4 lengths. Lady Almas was second, with Disco Flirt getting up for third.

With the win, Champa Bay Hall doubled her lifetime earnings to $41,845 and set a new lifetime mark of 1:56.2. The filly by Creatine, out of the Tom Ridge mare Angela Hall, was bred by Atlantic Trot and Steve Stewart. Steve Carter trains Champa Ball Hall for owners Jeff Fought Racing, Adam Friedland and Brian Carsey.

The Jay Kaltenbach Series was for three-year-old trotting fillies eligible to the Buckeye Stallion Series that did not race in the second leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes. The other three divisional finals will be held on July 19 (the Dr. Davis Pace for fillies), on July 20 (the Joe Adamsky Pace for colts) and on July 25 (the Dick Richardson Trot for colts).

Racing continues on Thursday, July 11 with a first post of 5:45 p.m.
