Eastcoast Invader Three-Peats In Inverness Feature
Eastcoast Invader opened up in the stretch to win his third straight victory for trainer/driver Monica Sutherland in the Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday, July 10.
As the car drew away, a pair of early leavers duelled for the front. As one went off stride, Shir Gain (Rodney Gillis) was left with the control of the timer, followed by Eastcoast Invader to the :30.2 quarter. En route to the opening split, Windemere Best Man (Redmond Doucet) tipped to the outside. Eastcoast Invader maintained pocket position and the field split in two as they approached the half in 1:00. The outer bid began to stall and Eastcoast Invader was granted enough room to hop off the pylons. Sutherland took her student to the top at the three-quarters in 1:29.2 before going on to win by open lengths in 1:58.3. Shir Gain finished second with Delightful Wine (Zachary Mullins) taking the show spot.
Breeder Todd Sutherland co-owns the seven-year-old Rollwithitharry-Manhattan Delight gelding with his daughter, Monica Sutherland. The triumph moved Eastcoast Invader's seasonal tally to 3-1-1 in seven starts and career record to 21-21-31 from 103 career starts. He returned $6.40 to win.
