The day belonged to driver David Kelly at The Track On 2 on Sunday (July 7), sweeping the final six races on the eight-race card, three of which coming in the bike for trainer Brinsley Brooking-Lutz.

The duo teamed up for their first victory on the afternoon in the third race on the card, with Kelly steering Alpine Billy to victory in $3,700 conditioned pace. Leaving from post five in the field of five, Kelly put the 9-5 favourite directly on the lead to cut the first half with fractions of :29.1 and :59.4. Five Star Dragon (Logan Gillis) challenged the leader at three-quarters in 1:30 before Alpine Billy paced away by 1-3/4 lengths on the wire in 1:57.1 over Hazels Wildling (Darren Callaghan).

Kelly won the fourth with Therealgoods ($15.60) for trainer Richard Schneider before winning races five and six as both trainer and driver with Show Stop ($5.00) and Dawnsmorningglory ($9.50). Kelly was back in the bike for Brooking-Lutz to sweep the late double.

Havinfuninthesun (pictured above) was sent off as the 1-5 favourite in $3,000 filly and mare conditioned company. Kelly asserted the favourite on the lead to the first quarter in :27.3 before reaching the halfway point in :56.1. Rolling through three-quarters in 1:25.3, Havinfuninthesun was out for a Sunday stroll as she steamrolled to a 5-1/4 length victory in 1:55 over Baby Badger (Nathan Sobey).

Kelly utilized a different strategy in the finale, scoring from off of the pace with My Little Chloe to complete the training triple for Brooking-Lutz and natural six-pack in the bike. Kelly settled the 3-5 favorite in sixth early before tipping three-wide around the final turn and powering home in :28.2 to score a 1-1/2 length victory in 1:55.3 over Bearcat Abigail.

During The Track On 2's Sunday qualifying session, Shark Week returned off of a near three-month layoff to establish a new track record for older pacing gelding. Regular pilot Michael Hennessy was aboard for trainer Rodney Hennessy, putting Shark Week on top to the first quarter in :28.4. Shark Week reached the half in :57.4 before picking up the pace to three-quarters in 1:25.0. From there, the 42-time winner sped home in :26.2 to stop the clock in 1:51.2.

Shark Week has made three parimutuel starts thus far in 2024, winning two of them. Now six, Shark Week entered the year off of a 2023 campaign which saw the gelded son of Vertical Horizon-Shark Gone Bad win 20 of 24 and bank $141,990.

The previous mark for an aged gelding was established by HF Thegreatpumpkin in August of 2020. The current track record for an aged stallion is 1:51.1 and was established by Kioti on August 16, 2023 and is also the overall track record.
