The Big 5-0 For O Narutac Perfetto
At the age of 13, veteran trotter O Narutac Perfetto is on track for one of the best years of his accomplished career.
A winner of more than $776,000 in his 12 years of competition, the altered son of Deweycheatumnhowe - Aiken For Clay picked up his 50th career victory on Saturday, July 6 at Georgian Downs in his 307th career start.
Competing against five rivals — most much younger — in an $11,500 conditioned event, O Narutac Perfetto made every call a winning one from post three. After fractions of :29.1, :57.3 and 1:26.1 for driver Austin Sorrie, O Narutac Perfetto powered away from his foes to win by nearly seven lengths in a time of 1:55.1. Favoured Walkonthemoon (Samuel Fillion) finished second with Ricky Resolve (Mark Johnson) next best.
Trained for the last decade by Dean Nixon for owner Tony Basile of Toronto, Ont., O Narutac Perfetto now sports a 9-2-3 summary from 23 seasonal starts. The nine wins mark a personal best single season total for the trotter, with his $65,567 in earnings over this campaign tracking favourably to eclipse his best total of $109,870 from his five-year-old season in 2016.
