Whichwaytothebeach Wires Field In Mohawk Preferred Pace

Sylvain Filion took Whichwaytothebeach right to the front and never relented, as they posted a wire-to-wire 1:48.4 victory in the $36,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, July 6.

It was the third win in a row for Whichwaytothebeach and the second straight for the gelding in the Preferred ranks.

Leaving from the five-hole, Filion and 4-5 favourite Whichwaytothebeach set torrid fractions of :27.2, :54.4 and 1:21.2. Write Me A Rose (Doug McNair) made a move from fourth at the half to grab second place, while Poseidon Seelster (Bob McClure) closed from sixth at the top of the stretch to snare the third piece of the triactor.

A six-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding, Whichwaytothebeach is 5-4-2 in 17 starts this year with earnings of $119,300. He has $895,053 showing on his career chart.

Whichwaytothebeach is trained by Garry Merner for owner Gino Toscani of Mount Hope, Ont.
