World Revival, Sweet Alex Take Prospect Series Divisions At Hiawatha

Racing action at Hiawatha Horse Park

World Revivial and Sweet Alex each won $8,000 divisions of the Prospect Series for three-year-old colt pacers on Saturday (July 6) at Hiawatha Horse Park.

With Anthony Haughan in the bike, World Revival won the faster of the two groups in 1:55.1. Ballykeel Painter set early fractions of :27 and :57.2. But when Ballykeel Painter (Scott Wray) started to fade at the three quarters, World Revival took charge. The Stag Party gelding surged to a six-length victory. Thejackofdiamonds (Garrett Rooney) finished second and Acefortyfour Duke (Jason Woodward) was third.

Trained by Meg Crone, World Revival is owned by Hutt Racing Stable of Malvern, Pa. World Revival is 2-3-0 in six starts this year, good for earnings of $12,625. The gelding shows career earnings of $18,625.

Sweet Alex also came from off the pace to win the other Prospect Series division in 1:56. Zippennrippen (Rooney) charged to the front from the inside post, putting up fractions of :27, 57.4 and 1:26.3. Still fourth at the three quarters, driver Jean Renaud brought a hard-charging Sweet Alex to the wire to win by a head. Zippennrippen held on for second, with Rise N Grind (Andy Moore) in third.

A McWicked gelding, Sweet Alex is 3-1-1 in nine 2024 starts for trainer Julie Walker and owners Wr Stable of Carlisle, Ont., Overseas Farms Ltd. of Cambridge, Ont., 1035840 Ontario Inc of Arthur, Ont. and Karen Murphy of Blue Mountain, Ont. Sweet Alex has banked $14,850 this year and $16,650 lifetime.
