Red Shores' All Star Handicapping Challenge Set

Harness Racing at Charlottetown Driving Park

Red Shores is excited to announce the 2024 All Star Handicapping Challenge, set to run on all Saturdays throughout the month of July, with an earlier first post time set for those Saturday cards.

All of the Saturdays in July will be at an earlier start time of 4 p.m. Atlantic / 3 p.m. Eastern.

The 2024 All Star Handicapping Challenge will feature three esteemed handicappers: Garnet Barnsdale, Ken Warkentin, and the defending champion from 2023, Robert Reid Jr.

This year’s new contender, Ken Warkentin, is the renowned voice of The Meadowlands who has repeatedly demonstrated his exceptional handicapping skills on air and through competing in other events.

The participants will earn points based on their performance, with five points awarded for a win, three points for a place, and onie point for a show. The contender with the highest total points at the end of the series will be crowned the new champion.

Lee Drake, Manager of Racing and Broadcast, expressed his excitement, saying, "We are thrilled to have these handicapping all-stars come together for this event. Robert was very impressive last year, coming from behind to win after really digging into the analysis. The competition will be very fierce with Garnet, who was very strong last year only to have Robert nose him out in the end, and Ken, who is eager to make his mark.  It is going to be a lot of fun to watch!"

Fans will also have a chance to participate by selecting who of the three they think will win each day through a poll on X (formerly Twitter). The leaderboard will be regularly updated on X and announced during live broadcasts, allowing everyone to follow along with the challenge. Players are encouraged to check out the X feed on these days for an enhanced player-focused experience.

This year's challenge will also feature the 56th running of the Governor's Plate at Summerside Raceway on July 20.

Red Shores offers racing from Summerside and Charlottetown Prince Edward Island three days per week with many additional programs during Governor’s Plate week and the week of the prestigious Gold Cup and Saucer in August.  The races are broadcast live on YouTube and available on HPIbet, Xpressbet/1ST Bet, Twinspires, NYRA Bets, and your favourite betting outlet.
