Eastcoast Invader Invades Inverness Winner's Circle
Eastcoast Invader may not have invaded a new track on Wednesday evening, July 3, but the Monica Sutherland student did invade the Inverness Raceway winner's circle as he won the Winners Over Pace.
Sutherland sent her student to the rail post in the featured $2,000 class. Euchred (Walter Walker) took the early lead and took the field to the quarter timed in :28.3. Windemere Best Man (John MacDonald) got away second, followed by Eastcoast Invader. As Euchred continued to lead the field to the :58.2 half, Windemere Best Man tipped to the outside with Eastcoast Invader following his cover. Windemere Best Man took command before the three-quarters in 1:28.4, leaving Euchred back in second and the 'Invader' third. Turning for home, the field shuffled and Eastcoast Invader gained the upperhand, going on to win by a length in 1:58.4. Windemere Best Man took second and Delightful Wine (Zachary Mullins) nabbed the show spot.
Todd and Monica Sutherland co-own the seven-year-old gelded son of Rollwithitharry and the Bettors Delight mare Manhattan Delight. While picked up his 20th career tally, Eastcoast Invader notched his second win in six starts this year. He returned $5.60 to win as the 2-1 bettors' choice.
