Gallucci & Millar Gals Get Friday Grand Slam
Oneformybaby capped off the session of baby races on Friday, June 28 at Woodbine Mohawk Park with the fastest mile of the morning and the dash with the biggest win margin to put the bow on a grand slam for trainer Nick Gallucci and owner Millar Farms.
A solid third-place finisher in her debut one week ago, Oneformybaby made every call a winning one during the ninth dash of the morning. Driver James MacDonald pointed the homebred daughter of Hes Watching - Poto Hanover to the top from post six, and the filly cleared to the lead before a :29.2 opening panel. Here, the front end had its perks as MacDonald and Oneformybaby were able to avoid the hooked wheels of Mafalda (Mario Baillargeon) and Joans Dream (Mario Lachance) in the first turn and the breaking Windsor Patty (Jody Jamieson) turning for home. A trouble-free trip turned into a 23-length trouncing on the charts, with the mile timed in 1:55.4.
Gallucci and Millar sent out five homebreds on the morning, and finished first four times. Before the victory of Oneformybaby, the duo clicked with Rovers Return (MacDonald; 1:57.4), Chantilly (MacDonald; 1:59.4) and Buildmeupbuttercup (Sylvain Filion; 1:58.1).
After making a miscue in her debut one week ago, Green Glider gave her connections a reason to smile with an impressive 1:59.3 performance for the fastest trotting mile of the session. Filion facilitated the winning trip, asking the daughter of Green Manalishi S - Magical Glider for speed of :30.4, 1:01.2 and 1:31.3 before a :28 closer to the eight-length victory over St Pats Princess (Scott Young).
Scott McEneny trains Green Glider for Andrea Lea Racingstables Inc. of Lakefield Gore, Que.
