Eastcoast Invader Overshadows Sunshine Lou At Inverness

Eastcoast Invader winning at Inverness Raceway

Eastcoast Invader and trainer/driver Monica Sutherland pocketed their first win of the Inverness Raceway meet, overshadowing pacesetter Sunshine Lou in the Winners Over feature to close out Sunday afternoon's racing action.

Leaving from the inside post in this week's $2,000 top class, Sutherland's Eastcoast Invader got a pocket trip behind 9-5 shot Sunshine Lou and Danny Gillis with fractions clocked in :29.4, :59.1 and 1:29.4 before springing into action off the final turn and catching the pacesetter down the lane for the 1:58.4 triumph. The 4-5 favourite, Delightful Wine, finished third after a first-over journey through the final lap for Redmond Doucet.

Sent postward for the fifth race of his seven-year-old campaign at odds of 7-2, Eastcoast Invader paid $9.80 to win. Bred and co-owned by Sutherland's father Todd, the Rollwithitharry-Manhattan Delight gelding now has 19 career wins to go along with 52 other top three finishes from 102 starts.
