Samba Beat was right in the music as he drummed a gate-to-wire performance in the featured $12,500 Preferred Pace at Century Downs on Saturday afternoon, June 22.
Philip Giesbrecht sent the Gerry Hudon student to the top from post five and never looked back as they posted fractions in :27.1, :55.3 and 1:23.4 before crossing the wire 1-1/2 lengths the best in 1:52. Bonus Road (David Kelly) finished second with Icy Blue Scooter (Nathan Sobey) third.
Samba Beat (Santanna Blue Chip-Shes Machs Delight) is a six-year-old horse owned by Gerry & Monica Hudon and William Andrew.
