Good Feeln To Know Rebuffs Meadows Challengers

Good Feeln To Know winning at The Meadows

Pressured on the lead for much of the mile, Good Feeln To Know still was strong enough to draw away late and score easily in Friday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $17,808 conditioned trot.

Dave Palone sent Good Feeln To Know to the point, where he was dogged immediately by Battin Athousand from post eight and Commander Frank from post nine -- the latter continued his pursuit until about the three-quarters. But the five-year-old Trixton-Gentle True Spirit gelding was just as determined, widening his advantage to prevail by four lengths in a career-beat 1:52.2. Threepointbluechip finished second off a pocket trip and favourite Cornstar completed the top three finish order.

Nick Kozar trains Good Feeln To Know for Jack Piatt III and Howard Alexander.

The winner returned $10.40 as the 4-1 fourth choice on the toteboard.

Trainer Brandon Presto and driver Hunter Myers each enjoyed four wins on the 13-race card, combining for three with Contact Zone ($27.20), Wild Bill Hiccup ($5.40) and Fixn And Mixn ($22.60).

Presto's other winner was Rattling Pine ($4.20) with Lauren Harmon aboard in the $13,699 leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot. Harmon and Rattling Pine confidently retook the lead near the half and held off the late charge of Chin Chin Hall and Steve Oldford.

Harmon out-duelled Majors Song and Dirk Simpson for the early lead but temporarily released Headoverboots As and Michael Burke. Not for long, though, as Harmon authoritatively reclaimed the point and had plenty left to turn back Oldford, defeating his charge by 1-1/4 lengths in a career-best 1:53.4. Troycen and Tom Svrcek finished third.

It was the second Meadows GLADA victory in the last month for the team of Harmon and Rattling Pine, an eight-year-old Dejarmbro-Pinery gelding owned by Rocco Stebbins.

Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Saturday, with first post at 12:45 p.m.
