American Risk Blows Them Away In Truro Top Class
American Risk took the wind out of his rivals' sails as he persisted on the lead in the Winners Over Pace during the first Friday evening card of the Truro Raceway meet.
Driver Andrew Campbell hustled American Risk off the gate first from post four in the $2,500 top class with favoured Wind Blown (Bernard McCallum) parked and pressing to the quarter in :27.2. Wind Blown gained a short lead on the outside to the turn, but American Risk fought back as they raced to the half in :57, leaving that rival parked out and packing it in as they headed down the backstretch the final time to three-quarters in 1:26.1. Malignity (Paul Langille) launched his attack on the leader next with a three-wide bid from the back, but levelled off through the lane as American Risk responded by opening up 2-3/4 lengths for the 1:54.4 victory. Rockin Corona (Darren Crowe) followed in second and Tango Seelster (Keith Legge) got up for third.
Fresh off a victory in Sunday's top class at Inverness Raceway, American Risk is now two-for-five this season for trainer George Rennison and the Risky Bizz Group. The eight-year-old American Ideal-Kissing Bandit gelding paid $6 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
