Using an aggressive steer from driver Jody Jamieson, R Liza stayed perfect on the season and took home the title in the lone $140,000 division of the second Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg for three-year-old trotting fillies on Monday, June 17 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Sent off as the 7-5 second choice in the wagering, Jamieson pocketed up early as Bruce Richardson hustled 122-1 shot No One to the front from post nine through a :27.2 first quarter. Jamieson was not content to follow the longshot on the backstretch, pocket-popping and assuming command of the field to the halfway point in :57. Lexus Angel (Trevor Henry) made a first-over bid entering the final turn that began to stall with R Liza picking up the pace to three-quarters in 1:26.1.

Trotting for home, R Liza put five lengths between herself and the field under Jamieson urging. The 3-5 favourite, Willys Home Run (James MacDonald), tipped off the stalled cover to launch her bid and move into second in pursuit of the leader. Willys Home Run made up considerable ground to reach the leader's wheel on the line, but victory belonged to R Liza behind the strength of a :27.3 final quarter to score in 1:53.4. Lexus Angel held sway for third and Muscone (Travis Cullen) rounded out the superfecta.

Trained by Susie Kerwood, the daughter of Muscle Mass-Wishimaywishimight is perfect through four starts in 2024. Having banked $221,700 on the season for owners M And L Of Delaware LLC and Alabama Harness Associate, R Liza has won eight of 12 lifetime and banked $332,357 for her career.

The next Gold leg for sophomore trotting fillies will be the $150,000 Mid-Season Final on Saturday, July 6 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. R Liza sits atop the division following victories in each of the first two legs.
