Fighting Evil Upsets In Meadows Feature

Fighting Evil

Fighting Evil endured a contested opening quarter and two late challenges to pull off the 8-1 upset in Wednesday’s (June 12) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $21,781 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.

Heading to the front from post eight, Fighting Evil was parked in a lively :27 when Always Gonna B You would not release her. She made the point for Jeremy Indof but was confronted late by the first-over Be My Rose N and Kat in that one’s tow. The six-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Evil Fight dug deep and triumphed in 1:51.3, a half length better than Kat, with Be My Rose N third.

Jack Smith trains Fighting Evil, who now boasts a career bankroll of $303,080, for Shannon Depinto and Howard Taylor.

Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. piloted four winners on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (June 13) when the program features a pair of carryovers: $266.80 in the Early Pentafecta (Race 4), $1,490.06 in the Pick 5 (Race 9). First post is 12:45 p.m.
