Five Straight For Thunder Alley
Thunder Alley extended his win streak to five on Saturday, June 8 at Northside Downs with another top class score to remain perfect in 2024.
Sent postward as the 3-4 choice in the $1,700 Winners Over Pace, Thunder Alley did what he's done in all over his appearances this year for driver Gerard Kennedy: make the front and dare rivals to beat him.
After fractions of :28.4, :59.4, and 1:30.2, Thunder Alley didn't have any rivals close to him. Closing in :28.3 kept those foes at bay, winning in 1:59 by more than two lengths. Rockingforreal (Jason MacNeil) and Runaway Mystery (Brett Leblanc) completed the top trio.
An eight-year-old son of Mystery Chase - The Three Of Us, Thunder Alley is trained by Heather Hawkins for Terri Morrison, Irwin Claener, Kirk MacRae and Angus MacEachern of Nova Scotia. He paid $3.50 to win on Saturday after notching his 29th career victory. His earnings stand at $87.802.
On a card when favourites won six of the 10 dashes, Ardon Mofford delivered some value through a training hat trick. Mofford scored in the fifth with Wine N Cheddar (2:03.4; $14.20), Afair Somewhere (1:56.3; $3.70) in the seventh and Dont Tell Kim (2:00.1; $25.30) in the finale. The three wins on the day bring Mofford's meet total to seven, where he sits second in the standings to the trainer of Thunder Alley — Heather Hawkins, with nine.
