Training Hat Trick For McNair At Mohawk
Gregg McNair sent out a trio of victors in Thursday (June 6) evening's card at Woodbine Mohawk Park with each student winning their respective $17,000 conditioned class.
Topping her stablemates as the swiftest performer, Blazing Belle lived up to her namesake with a 1:52.3 score in the conditioned pace for fillies and mares.
Doug McNair and the Gregg McNair filly got away third as the field straightened out and reached the quarter in :27.4. After that mark, Blazing Belle swept to the front and took control of the tempo. She reached the half mile marker in :57.1 and maintained her 1-1/2 length lead through the three-quarters in 1:25. With ease, Blazing Belle raced to a 1-3/4 length score in 1:52.3. Sweeter Than Lou (James MacDonald) followed in the pocket to take second and Acefortyfour Bella (Tyler Jones) completed the top three finishers.
James Avritt Sr. bred and owns the sophomore daughter of Bettors Delight - Beautyonthebeach for her first career triumph. In 14 starts, Blazing Belle has banked $116,271. The filly returned $2.10 to win as the heavily backed favourite.
Doug McNair also piloted No Need For Alarm ($6.70) to a one length score in 1:57 and Scintillating Tom ($2.70) to complete the training hat trick for Gregg McNair.
