Tioga Downs will play host to two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) on Friday, June 7.
 
In the $57,000 USD first division, Chaparmbro (PP4, Trond Smedshammer, 9-5) and Winning Alliance (PP5, Todd Ratchford, 5-2) appear to be the ones to beat.

Winning Alliance (pictured above) is six-for-six in 2024 including a win in the NYSS at Vernon Downs. The Matt Bax trainee has seven wins in nine lifetime starts. Chaparmbro is a filly by Chapter Seven trained by Smedshammer sporting a win, two seconds and a third in six lifetime starts.

The John Butenschoen-trained R Melina (PP4, Tyler Buter, 6-5) is the one to beat in the $57,000 USD second division.  The filly by Chapter Seven is two-for-two this season getting NYSS wins at Yonkers and Vernon.  She has nine wins in her career and has accrued more than $472,000 in lifetime earnings.

Her top competitor appears to be Sister Mary Maude (PP5, Joe Bongiorno, 5-2).  The filly has four seconds in four starts in 2024.  Her last two seconds were losses to R Melina in NYSS action. Ron Burke trains the Crazy Wow filly seeking his sixth lifetime victory.

The 10-race card starts at 6:15 p.m.
