Bartlett, Ryder Sweep NYSS At Tioga

Peace Talks winning at Tioga Downs

Driver Jason Bartlett and trainer Chris Ryder swept both divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for three-year-old pacing fillies at Tioga Downs on Sunday, June 2, scoring with Tarrific in the first division, followed by Peace Talks in the second.

In the $79,589 first division, Bronx Barista (Mark MacDonald) went to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3.  MacDonald used a :29.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.2. Tarrific made her move first-over from third going down the backstretch to engage with Bronx Barista, who maintained a short lead to three-quarters in 1:24.1. Tarrific wore down a stubborn Bronx Barista and broke free in deep stretch to win in 1:51.3.  Hunting Hula (Pat Lachance) came up to finish second, while Bronx Barista had to settle for third.

Tarrific is owned by Margeret Dey and Let It Ride Stables. It was the maiden-breaking victory for the daughter of Huntsville.

Peace Talks went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :26.3 in the $81,096 second division. Bartlett slowed the tempo down and was first to the half in :55.4. Leannes Choice (Marcus Miller) was the first to make a move first-over down the backstretch but she stalled as Peace Talks was first to three-quarters in 1:23.1. As they made the turn for home, Peace Talks was in control but had to brace for a late charge by second-place finisher Ponynamedwildfire (Mark MacDonald). Peace Talks held firm to win in a lifetime best of 1:50.4.  Camerican (Jordan Stratton) finished third.

Peace Talks is a filly by American Ideal and is owned by Henderson Farms, FAC Racing Stable, Jeffrey Bell, and Robert Mondillo. The victory was the first this season for Peace Talks and third in her career.

Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Friday, June 7 at 6:15 p.m.
