Race Dates Rescheduled In New Brunswick

Officials with Horse Racing New Brunswick (HRNB) have announced the cancellation and rescheduling of some upcoming race dates.

The cancellation of race dates comes as a result of a request by the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission (APRHC) for upgraded equine drug testing facilities at Woodstock's Connell Park Raceway.  This upgrade falls in accordance with the Equine Drug Control Program of the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA).

Under the program, CPMA utilizes Racing Forensics Inc. for testing and significant upgrades were required to meeting specifications as set forth by CPMA. With the construction upgrades completed, Racing Forensics will now seek to find and train testing inspectors.

As a result, race dates June 8 and 15 have been cancelled by the APRHC and rescheduled to Sept. 14 and Oct. 5.  The Dawn Bremner Memorial has been rescheduled per the APHRC to Sept. 28.

HRNB officials noted that volunteers at Connell Park Raceway have done a tremendous job implementing a massive retrofit for a new testing area and deserve recognition for their efforts.
