Meadowlands To Boost Open Purses
As the stakes season gets underway, The Meadowlands has announced it will endeavour to provide starts for those horses prepping for both Grand Circuit and regional programs.
The Arthur Cutler Memorial Trot kicks off the Grand Circuit season for the Championship Meet on Saturday, May 18 and Director of Racing Scott Warren has instituted a raise of the purse on Open Paces for both horses and mares with the minimum purse of $31,500 (USD) for a field of six that will increase by $5,000 (USD) with each added entry.
Also on the upcoming condition sheet (which goes up on Saturday) will be $25,000 (USD) Opens for three-year-olds. The Meadowlands also pays all overnight starters a minimum of three per cent to help to cover the cost of racing.
