P L Oliver Wires Western Fair Preferred Pace
P L Oliver made every pole a winning one en route to victory in the $11,600 Preferred Pace on Monday evening, April 15 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Colin Kelly steered the Matt Dupuis student through panels in :28.1, :57.3 and 1:25.4 before continuing home to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:54.4. Homey Joe (Lorne House) finished second with Ideal Perception (Anthony Haughan) third.
Owned by Dupuis, the six-year-old gelded son of Sportswriter and the Mach Three mare P L Gotcha won his fourth race in 12 starts this year and 21st race from 115 career starts. P L Oliver moved his career bankroll to $225,906. He returned $4.90 to win.
Taking top honours in a $8,400 conditioned pace, Crazy World won his sixth straight appearance. Garrett Rooney and the Kathy Cecchin trainee led at every panel through splits in :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26 before going on to win by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:55.2 over Kenny Joe (Dan Clements) and P L Quicksand (Travis Henry).
Crazy World (Control The Moment-One For The World) is a four-year-old gelding owned by John & Kathy Cecchin. He moved his career earnings to $64,315 with 10 wins in 20 starts. He returned $2.60 to win.
