'Polar Mare Plunge' Raises Almost $7,000
In her "craziest yet" charity stunt, harness racing personality Heather Moffett took 'The Polar Mare Plunge' with friend Susan Ehlers after their $5,000 fundraising goal for 'Wells For Ghana' was surpassed
.
Moffett and Ehlers pledged to jump into her family’s freezing pond at their farm in Harrington, Delaware if $5,000 was raised to benefit horseman Ken Wood’s ‘Wells For Ghana' benevolent project that builds fresh water wells in West Africa. With almost $7,000 donated, Moffett and Ehlers took the plunge into 5 degree Celsius waters on March 10.
"I just thought God works in strange ways," said Wood of the unique fundraiser organized by Moffett. "The cost [to build a well] is about $3,000 so you're probably going to help between 1,000 and 2,000 people."
