Allmyxsliventexas Headlines Fowler Memorial
Allmyxsliventexas, one of the best pacers to do his work over Cal Expo in the last decade, looks to add to his impressive resume in Friday night’s $12,500 USD Don and Kenny Fowler Memorial Pace.
Watch and Wager LLC will present 10 races and things get underway at 6:45 p.m.
Allmyxsliventexas is an 11-year-old homebred son of Hi Ho Silverheels who races for Wayne Knittel and is conditioned by Bob Johnson. He is the 2-1 morning line favourite, leaving from post five among the seven starters, and will be handled by Mooney Svendsen.
Allmyxsliventexas comes into this assignment sporting excellent numbers, having won 64 of his 206 starts, with just shy of $360,000 in earnings and a 1:50 mark that was established in his five-year-old campaign at Hoosier Park.
Allmyxsliventexas has three winner’s circle appearances to his credit at this meet -- the most recent in the DHA Free-For-All on March 17 when he made every pole a winning one in a 1:53.4 mile.
Chase The Gold was runner-up in that contest and looms large for Qks Racing, trainer Quentin Schneider and driver James Kennedy.
Completing the cast are Polar Storm, JP Jetty, Gee Wilikers, Ragged But Right and Handsome Harvey.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s card, a pair of $20,000 USD California Sire Stakes will be featured with Another Tuff Woman and Celebrity Status heading their respective fields.
Bettors Promise returns to Cal Expo winner's circle
Bettors Promise looked to have his work cut out for him in last Sunday’s second race, having missed the exacta in his first 10 starts on the year, but never underestimate past class as the 13-year-old pacer pulled off the 11-1 upset with James Kennedy doing the honours.
Of course, a perfect pocket trip didn’t hurt the cause as Bettors Promise did the track-and-attack to perfection in a 1:55.3 mile while registering the 36th win of his career and pushing his career bank account over the $300,000 plateau for his owners Richard Morita and David Yamada and trainer Jessie Pacheco.
Bettors Promise toured this mile oval in a snappy 1:50.3 six years ago while establishing his lifetime mark in the process, and it was nice to see him reunited with Kennedy and back in the winner’s enclosure.
Weekend wagering notes
A reminder that there are three wagers offered at Cal Expo each night that come with a reduced 16 per cent takeout rate: the 20-cent early and late Pick 5 and the 20-cent Pick 4, with the latter featuring a $25,000 guaranteed gross pool.
To see the value added, you need only go back to last Sunday night’s early Pick 5 to find a sweet payoff of $3,941 for each correct 20-cent ticket. The aforementioned Bettors Promise certainly contributed to that nice return.
Also note that going into Friday night’s program, there is a carryover of $6,928 in the 20-cent Pick 7 that begins on the third race.
