It Takes Two Pockets Western Fair Preferred
It Takes Two followed the pocket trip to victory in the $11,600 Preferred Handicap Pace for horses and geldings on Monday, March 18 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The victory took more than two as the four-year-old Artspeak-Shellace gelding teamed up with trainer Scott McNiven and driver Lorne House. Following the steps of the favoured Wilcat Rocky (Travis Henry) through splits in :28.2, :59 and 1:28, It Takes Two waited until the last split to make his greatest advance. Down the stretch, he popped the pocket and battled the pacesetter to the wire. In a photo finish, It Takes Two won by a nose over Wilcat Rocky in 1:57.1. Hollys Treasure (Dan Clements) recovered from an early miscue to take the show spot.
Kimberley McNiven and Bradley Douglas co-own the homebred that pushed his career earnings to the six-figure mark at $102,021. In 58 starts, It Takes Two has won 14 races to go along with 11 seconds and 11 thirds. This season, he has won half of his 10 track appearances. As the 8-1 upset victor, he returned $17 to win.
