El Toro Loco Equals Western Fair Track Record
El Toro Loco added his name to the Western Fair record books on Wednesday, March 13 as he captured the evening’s Preferred Handicap Trot in 1:56, equalling the record for older trotting geldings.
The track record was held jointly by Brawn Seelster (2008) and Platoon Seelster (2016).
El Toro Loco, a relatively new recruit for the No One Knows Us Stable and trainer Steve Bossence, was sent to the front early by driver Garrett Rooney and went unchallenged through quick splits of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.4. Six other pursuers were unable to stay with the tempo-sitter, who kicked home in :29.1 for the dominant victory.
Longshot Insanity followed in to finish second while Bucktober landed the show spot.
El Toro Loco (Walner-Southwind Cabaret) boosted his career bankroll to $194,103 in his first win in two tries this season and 11th career victory from 52 starts. The five-year-old gelding returned $3.80 to win as the bettors' choice.
Live harness racing continues four days a week for the duration of the spring meet at The Raceway and resumes this Friday evening with first post at 5:50 p.m.
