Racy Roxy A Upsets In Saratoga Distaff Open
Racy Roxy A became the first two-time winner of the $20,270 Fillies and Mares Open Pace this year at Saratoga Casino Hotel when she tracked down the legendary Racine Bell to win in 1:54 on Tuesday afternoon, March 5.
Racine Bell, who brought close to $1.2 million in earnings into the event, moved quickly through first-half fractions of :27.1 and :57 over a sloppy track before Racy Roxy A revved up with three-eighths to go. The six-year-old daughter of Mr Feelgood-Rani Major powered past Racine Bell at the head of the stretch and paced away to win by 1-1/2 lengths. Racine Bell was the runner-up and Arizona finished third.
Jay Randall drove Racy Roxy A for trainer Rob Harmon and owner Mike Casalino Jr.
Live harness racing at Saratoga resumes on Saturday, March 9 with first post at 5 p.m. There will be a $2,871 carryover in the Pick-5, which starts in the first race.
