Sherman Triples At Western Fair
Jason Sherman sent three to the track on Wednesday (Feb. 28) evening and all three returned as victors at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Takeapeek At Me won the top class of the triad as he battled for an upset victory in a $8,000 conditioned trot.
Garrett Rooney and the Sherman student landed in seventh off the car and through the opening panel in :28.4. Rooney pulled Takeapeek At Me to the outside, but the pair sat eighth through the half in 1:00.4 and seventh through the three-quarters in 1:30.4. Using every bit of track, Takeapeek At Me sprinted the last panel in :29.4 to win by a head in 2:01.3 over Run Like Hill (Samuel Fillion). Arrakis (Travis Henry) completed the triactor.
Takeapeek At Me (Trixton-Im Peekers) is a five-year-old gelding co-owned by Betty and Jason Sherman. In 50 career starts, Takeapeek At Me has earned a record of 9-4-9 and $67,444 in a career bankroll. He returned $10.90 to win.
Jason Sherman and Tyler Borth teamed up for two wins to complete the trainer's Wednesday hat trick.
In race five, Journalistic ($4) won the claiming pace worth $4,100, leading through every panel en route to a 5-3/4-length romp in 2:01. Sherman co-owns the seven-year-old Sportswriter-Enchanted Beauty gelding with Kori Maccabe.
Eyes Of Justice ($4.10) followed in race six for a gate-to-wire triumph in 2:02 by 1-1/2 lengths. Sherman also owns the six-year-old Justice Hall-Nobody Nos Butme gelding.
